Replacement of the water pipes network in refugee settlements located within the Water Board of Lemesos area of supply
The WBL has completed the works for the replacement of the water pipes network in the following refugee housing settlements, falling within its area of supply:
Overall, pipes having a length of 5km have been replaced, with a cost of €380.000. The construction works commenced in late 2015 and were recently completed. The water supply network in the aforementioned refugee settlements had been installed after the dramatic events of 1974, yet its replacement was deemed necessary since frequent damages were occurring during the past years, resulting in loss of water resources and, consequently, in the inconvenience of the area's residents.
The WBL is now planning to replace the water supply network of the former Turkish Cypriot neighbourhood of Limassol, having a length of 6,75km. The construction works are expected to commence in late 2017 and be completed within approximately 6 months, at an estimated expense of €480.000. The WBL will make every possible effort in order to ensure that consumers living in the former Turkish Cypriot neighbourhood of Limassol will be affected to the minimum extent possible during the construction works.
